Welcome

Welcome to Cathie Peters' Website

I have worked mostly in watercolour because I love the glow you can achieve with the transparent pigments.  The way light changes and reflects is a constant fascination for me.  The subtlety of colour as it is affected by light is one of the things I try to capture in my work.

The Kamloops area is full of rolling grasslands, intriguingly eroded clay cliffs, and amazing Ponderosa Pines. Their fluid quality of line is something I try to accentuate in my work.

In 2006, I explored the possibilities of acrylics.  The brilliant pigments as well as the forgiving nature of this new medium has freed me up to try things I could not easily do in watercolour.

As do most artists, I paint things that speak to me as a person.  Often, I will choose a painting that offers me a challenge.  Growing as an artist is an ongoing process of trial and error, learning from mistakes as well as successes.  As an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists I have had several paintings juried into art shows.

My work is in collections in the Maritimes, Ottawa, Calgary, the Kamloops area and at the west coast. Look for me in the Artists' Studio & Gallery in the Sahali Mall in Kamloops.
