In this two  day course we will explore how to create the illusion of light on the canvas.  It is simply a matter of learning firstly to see accurately, and then developing a process for arriving at a mixture that will be correct.  We will be working at both training the eye and then translating that information into paint.

We will start with an interactive demo on subtractive color mixing that will make the process of arriving at the right mixture (value, saturation and hue) straightforward,  then students will put the lesson straight into practice, first with excercises and then onto a series of small paintings that will serve to reinforce the principles learned.  I will provide photo references for the workshop.

My goal is to simply and demistify color mixing.  Turns out it is not rocket science after all!

(Gaye will provide reference photos for you to use.  Please come prepared to share a table or bring your own.)
