Lalita Hamill Workshop - October 5/6, 2024
We are bringing Lalita to you in October to further our very popular Foundation Skills Program. This weekend workshop will be all about "Working from Photographs”. Artists use reference photos in many different ways depending on their practice. It is an essential tool for any artist serving as a reference to fill in the gaps where our memory or imagination may need a little inspiration. Lalita will expand on the use of photos in your artistic practice and show you how to get the most out of your pictures. More details to follow in the next couple of months! If you are already interested and know what Lalita brings to the easel, secure your spot here: LALITAHAMILL

A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Summer is here and the living is easy! In the summer, some of us gear up and paint more, some of us put our brushes down and find ways to regenerate the creative mindset. Whatever your process may be, do what works for you and enjoy! Slow down, savour your time and the warm summer days ahead. Keep your "painter's eye" tuned to the beauty that surrounds you and take photos to use as reference later on. If you are into it, join up for the group paint-out in July and remember to come see our TNSC Booth #59 at Art in the Park on July 1st. Happy Canada Day! Happy Painting! Elaine

ART TIPS AND TRICKS TO IMPROVE YOUR ART!
🎨Mastering Composition with the Rule of Thirds🖌️
Looking to enhance the balance and interest in your paintings? Try using the Rule of Thirds! This classic guideline helps artists create dynamic and well-composed artwork.
🔹 What is the Rule of Thirds?
Imagine dividing your canvas into nine equal parts by two equally spaced horizontal lines and two equally spaced vertical lines. This creates a grid with four intersections.
🔹 How to Use It:
Place the key elements of your composition along these lines or at their intersections. This technique guides the viewer’s eye and creates a sense of harmony and proportion.
🔹 Why It Works:
The Rule of Thirds helps avoid placing the focal point in the center, which can sometimes make a piece feel static. Instead, it encourages a more engaging and natural composition.
Next time you start a painting, give the Rule of Thirds a try and watch your compositions come to life with more depth and interest Happy painting! 🎨✨
